Gettin’ an Education
Posted by under For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information
As a Carlsbad home buyer (or ANY buyer for that matter) you have al ot to learn about - the home buying process, the market, home values, mortgages, and more. And YOU need to take the responsibility to get this education.
The good thing is that there is a wealth of information on the Internet for you to tap into. I think my First Time Buyers blog, for example, is a great learning zone for buyers (not just new ones) - but you can judge that for yourself. You can readily explore sites to learn about home buying or obtaining a mortgage. You can search for homes on-line (that’s probably how you got here to Realtor.com, right?) or sign up to receive daily emailed listing that meet your criteria (interested in Carlsbad homes or properties elsewhere in San Diego? Stop by my site to search for Carlsbad homes). There are lots of city sites where you can acquire more information about the towns that interest you. And of course you can, and should, drive around to explore areas that appeal, and visit open houses on weekends to get to know what’s avaialble in your price range. Understanding the local market is important so you can make an informed decision about the home you want to buy and not overspend.
Finally, I also suggest working with a knowledgeable REALTOR(R). In my opinion this is especially important if you are an inexperienced buyer. There is so much to learn, and you likely have lots of questions. You will save yourself a lot of precious time if you have someone you can rely on to help you through the process.
Good luck - home buying can be lots of fun, but without the education you will not enjoy it and you might get yourself in trouble.
